Europa: Despite Two Goal Advantage, Bruno Lage Careful About Frankfurt

Benfica will take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg Thursday night (20:00) and Bruno Lage and Gedson met with the press ahead of the second leg match up at Commerzbank-Arena.

Benfica enter with a two goal advantage after a 4-2 result in Luz, but two away goals and a confident performance by the German club in Luz has the feeling this tie is far from over.

Earlier today, Lage announced his 20 player call ups for the match with Salvio the new name to feature on the list.

“We can’t hide the fact that we have the advantage and we are conscience of this, but when you get to this point of the competition, you have to understand that anything can happen. We had a good result and a good match (in 1st leg) against a team that has performed very well in Europe this season. We have to play a match similar to the first leg to try to advance,” said Lage.

Lage was asked about having the first leg lead in the Taça de Portugal against Sporting CP,  but then losing it. He acknowledged it, but quickly brushed it aside saying this was a totally different competition, team and time of the season.

“What is important is achieving a good result and not being held back by any fear,” he added.

He was also asked about Salvio being included in the call ups.

“Salvio has been fit for about 10 days and when he goes into the calls ups it is because he is ready to play 90 minutes or be available on the bench.”

Gedson was the player for the press conference and was asked about the environment the team will face in Frankfurt.

“It will certainly be an environment with a strong atmosphere of support, but we are going with a clear mind and to give it our best.”
