According to well read Calciomercato, Benfica President Rui Costa has informally inquired about the availability of Andrea Pirlo.
Benfica, Rui Costa and Jorge Jesus (JJ) are under pressure after their 3-0 Taca loss at FC Porto.
Reports in past few days say JJ’s job is safe, but they still persist that Thursday’s classico result will be important for everybody.
On top of that Flamengo has interest in bringing back Jesus, unless Paulo Sousa is in fact appointed as manager.
The Calciomercato report also says internally some club directors want a Portuguese replacement. Paulo Fonseca and Nuno Espírito Santo are among the Portuguese available.
If all true, Costa could be eyeing potential managers in case he must eventually replace JJ now or next summer.
