West Ham United have appointed Nuno Esp\u00edrito Santo as their new manager after sacking Graham Potter in the wake of a dismal start to the Premier League season. The decision was confirmed on Saturday, ending Potter\u2019s short and turbulent tenure in East London.<\/p>\n
Nuno, 51, arrives with a wealth of Premier League experience from his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as a recent spell at Nottingham Forest. He has signed a contract to take charge immediately, with his first game set to be away at Everton next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United,\u201d he said. \u201cMy objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be. The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
West Ham\u2019s hierarchy moved quickly after a run of poor results left the team hovering near the bottom of the table. A club statement praised Nuno\u2019s \u201cproven track record of building competitive squads\u201d and said his appointment was designed to \u201creignite confidence and belief.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nuno is best remembered for guiding Wolves from the Championship into Europe, while his brief time at Tottenham ended in frustration. At Forest, he kept the club in the top flight before leaving earlier this year.<\/p>\n
